In a supposed hidden fund raising video from the politics of gotcha, the Republican Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney is captured noting that âThere are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what.âAccording to the polls that may be true.
âAll right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them.â People receiving Social Security believe they paid into the system for themselves when in actuality what is paid in today is paid out today to recipients on social security. When payroll taxes are cut for political expediency, so too are the monies needed to meet these debts. As one of these recipients, I was chagrin to learn that in retiring early on disability, their arbitrary enforcement of rules often disqualifies folks and negatively impacts what is needed to live.
For those in nursing homes, Medicaid is their largest payer not that allocated to welfare moms. On previous Sunday visits to a resident of these facilities, I was saddened that so few families are regularly visiting; hence without these monies these folks likely have no where else to go.
Food stamps go to too many who are bartering them as a secondary currency of exchange and not using them as originally intended. Our soldiers often have resorted to food stamps to feed their families. The number of recipients still rises. Where is their relief?
âAnd they will vote for this president no matter whatâŚThese are people who pay no income tax.â People arenât voting or supporting Mr. Obama because they like what he has to offer; rather it is because of what a Republican Administration is erroneously perceived as standing for. â47% of citizens pay no taxes (which is sort of the truth.âfederal taxes that is).â Everyone pays sales tax, may be subject to property taxes, sees their vehicles taxed and a host of other nickel and dime you to death taxes.
Solutions arenât all that complicated but do require a shared sense of sacrifice. Students should not get college aid from any governmental source without a minimum of a C average. Food stamps should be on debit cards like a Samâs card with a picture and only the face on that card can activate it. Only those who paid into Social Security should be able to withdraw from it. Credit worthiness should not impede ones ability to get a job if other than handling financial matters. Houses with over 50% equity should have a special dispensation for fixing any mortgage dilemmas. And to promote jobs, equalize the tax advantages between small businesses and large corporations. Start there and steal any other ideas you want from my book

That 47% statistic is very real and is a forerunner to what socialist leaning societies are finding now that they canât afford government sponsored health care, pensions and the like. (Check out Greece, Spain and likely France)
Are we ready to take a big girl and big boy pill as we deal with national spending gone wild, where our wants are outstripping our tax base and where all are not equally contributing their fair share? As a âflat taxerâ I believe everyone should pay the same rate and bear some responsibility for this society.
I donât want to hear debates of accusation; I want to know the hows and the sacrifice each party will ask. What will be the safety nets left in place? Each candidate should list 3 ways to solve a problem on each of the issues raised. If they are out of ideas, read my book and letâs get America growing again.
Letâs get all the people involved in solving the problems. Letâs restore family values. Letâs have a cogent foreign policy which doesnât give our money to those who turn on us. Letâs believe in America.
