Collins is a 34 year old NBA center. Think about the imagery that immediately creates in your head- He is athletic, tall, and on the down side of his career. Most people, even NBA fans probably did not know Collins until this week. So we also know that he was not a star.

Armstrong Williams, the conservative commentator and entrepreneur, is buying two television stations newly acquired by Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc., the parties announced Thursday. The transaction would instantly multiply the tiny number of commercial television stations owned by African Americans.

The Obamas think they’re celebrities instead of public servants. They appear on late night talk shows, shaking their booty and crooning slow jams with Jimmy Fallon, luxuriating in fundraisers with Hollywood’s elite, golfing with Tiger and of course presenting Oscars. By the looks of it, President Obama and the First Lady seem to enjoy mingling with celebrities more than doing the jobs they’re supposed to.

I get tired of writing about stupid, racist comments made by people of so-called fame or political importance. One would think in this day and age, individuals would know better. But my sensibilities are particularly offended when the mainstream media doesn’t apply the same standard of fingering wagging to blacks when they utter racial obscenities, as members of the press do when whites do.

“Django Unchained,” a new movie from white director Quentin Tarantino, is making headlines for its violence and raw racial language. An action movie rooted in a raw portrayal of the slave era, its content is proving to be quite troublesome for many black Americans.

On December 1, the Fox Sports columnist penned a column about what happened earlier that morning when Jovan Belcher — the starting linebacker for the Kansas City Chiefs — murdered his girlfriend, Kasandra Perkins (the mother of his three-month-old daughter), and then drove to Arrowhead Stadium and killed himself.

It appears that Gabby believes that he does.  In fact, before the beginning of her All-Around competition, Gabby tweeted to the whole world, "Let all that I am praise the LORD; may I never forget the good things He does for me."
